The nefarious witches used the Force through a series of techniques they called Allyan Magic, having developed their own "night spells" by tapping into the dark side.[11] Nightsisters were expert at casting illusions through "illusion spells," and it appeared that, like the Fallanassi, this was an integral part of the way they used the Force.[12][18][24][25]


Shendu appears to be highly possessive of what he considers his. He immediately sought to reclaim all the Noble Animals' powers upon his resurrection first and foremost (though this had the strategic value of increasing his power again), and he oftentimes expresses a feeling that his Talismans' powers (implied to have originally belonged to the modern Noble Animals' ancestors) not only belong to him alone but also that they're parts of him without which he is incomplete. Shendu declared in The Powers That Be (Part 2) that he considered the earthly realm to be his domain and his alone, showing a feeling that only he is rightfully allowed to rule it. However, Shendu's covetousness isn't absolute - when reduced to a spirit possessing Valmont, Shendu held no interest in reclaiming his Talismans (possibly because he couldn't reabsorb them), even sorely telling the Enforcers, "Keep your Talismans." He also declared when Drago intended to tear open the Earth that in his petrified state, he'd be proud to watch his son turn the world to ash; though he may have been playing to make Uncle more desperate to agree to freeing him.

God's ultimate purpose in creating the world is the manifestation of His goodness and excellence, and a communication of them in part to His creatures. Consequently, creation's first reason for existence is to glorify the Creator. Human beings fulfill this obligation to glorify God by living in conformity with the laws which govern human existence, but they do so more nobly still in those positive acts of religion, sacrifice, sacraments, social and private prayer, consecrations, and blessings. For in this latter way man does not praise God in isolation, but he is united with the praise which his elder brother, Jesus Christ, everlastingly renders to the Blessed Trinity. Irrational creatures fulfill their obligation also in their existence and functions, according to the laws that govern their nature. This is their silent voice of praise. But lower creation too is destined to take part in the direct and positive act of praising the Creator. The psalms and canticles leave no doubt about this. The fall of man caused lower creatures to be separated from God, for they were bound to God through mankind. And they became once more consecrated in the redemption, not purely for their own sake, but for the purposes of higher creation. Therefore, in union with man, and in union with the God-man, the rest of creation participates in the praise which without ceasing raises its voice to the adorable Trinity.In the Epistle to the Romans St. Paul records that the complete emancipation of creation will not be effected until the end of time. But ever since our Lord transfigured lower creatures by employing them in sacramental ways--consider His use of bread, wine, water, oil, sacred signs--material things have been participating with Him and with man in divine worship. And where Christ left off, the Church continues. The consecration and transfiguration of the creatures of God is done through sacraments and sacramentals. The passion and resurrection of Jesus notwithstanding, the individual man is not justified until the fruit of these momentous acts is communicated to him by way of sacramental sanctification. Lower creatures in similar fashion are freed from their enslavement by being sacramentalized. Before the Church will use them in the service of God or of men, she wills that first they be exorcised of any allegiance to Satan, then sanctified by her consecratory hand.


Certainly there is a difference of kind and of efficacy between the seven sacraments and the lesser sacraments called sacramentals. There is a difference of degree in the seven sacraments themselves. One is not so necessary or sublime as another. Furthermore, it is not true to say without qualification that one distinction between sacraments and sacramentals is that the former owe their institution to Christ, the latter to the Church. For some of the sacramentals definitely come directly from Christ, exactly how many and actually which ones is not clear. There is one sacramental, however, of whose origin there is not a particle of doubt. This is the mandatum, the washing of feet, carried out by our Lord at the Last Supper, and today still used in the liturgy of Maundy Thursday. What requires stressing here is that men should not belittle the sacramentals because of the fact that they owe their institution in greatest part not to the positive will and act of Christ, but instead to the will and act of the Church. For in the light of the doctrine of the mystical body both have a sacred origin, the sacraments from the personal, historical Christ, the sacraments from the mystic Christ--Christ living and working in His mystical bride, the Church. The sacramentals are aptly designated as extensions and radiation of the sacraments. Both are sources of divine life; both have an identical purpose, divine life. They have, moreover, an identical cause, the passion and resurrection of Jesus Christ; albeit they differ in nature, efficacy, and intensity.


Let us pray.Lord Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, bless + these candles at our lowly request. Endow them, Lord, by the power of the holy + cross, with a blessing from on high, you who gave them to mankind in order to dispel darkness. Let the blessing that they receive from the sign of the holy + cross be so effectual that, wherever they are lighted or placed, the princes of darkness may depart in trembling from all these places, and flee in fear, along with all their legions, and never more dare to disturb or molest those who serve you, the almighty God, who live and reign forever and ever.All: Amen.

For He has already stripped you of your powers and laid waste your kingdom, bound you prisoner and plundered your weapons. He has cast you forth into the outer darkness, where everlasting ruin awaits you and your abettors. To what purpose do you insolently resist? To what purpose do you brazenly refuse? Sirius was arrested by the Department of Magical Law Enforcement and sentenced by Barty Crouch Snr to life imprisonment in Azkaban without a trial for thirteen counts of murder with the curse, giving the information about the Potters' whereabouts which lead to their death and service to Lord Voldemort. The surviving Muggles were Obliviated and given an excuse by the Muggle-Worthy Excuse Committee that a gas-leak occurred before they could remember who really cast the Blasting Curse. Pettigrew was unjustly awarded the Order of Merlin, First Class for his confrontation with Sirius, which, along with the finger that they recovered, were "posthumously" given to his mother. As time passed, due to misconceptions, many believed that Black drew his wand and killed Pettigrew before the other had a chance of even drawing. Sometime after, Imhotep and his cultists headed to Cairo by train, Imhotep remaining in a boxcar adorned with ancient Egyptian artifacts and antiquities. As the cultists were traveling on, Alex O'Connell, who had been taken prisoner by the cultists, was brought forward to Imhotep, for the mummy wished to speak with Alex. To hide his rotted appearance, Imhotep donned long black robes and a detailed dark mask. Speaking to Alex in ancient Egyptian, knowing that the Bracelet of Anubis, Alex having put it on while back in London, would grant him the knowledge of the ancient Egyptians, particularly their language. Imhotep explained that Alex was the chosen one, and that Alex would guide their way to Ahm Shere. Alex, slightly frightened, attempted to defy Imhotep by stating that he might get them all lost, to which Imhotep then commended Alex on having his father's strength, and remarked to Alex that he still knew something that Alex did not: the Bracelet of Anubis marked both a gift and a curse, and Alex explained that he already knew of the Bracelet's properties: from the moment that the Bracelet was put on, the wearer would have seven days to reach Ahm Shere until the Scorpion King would awaken. What Imhotep then revealed to Alex the boy did not know: Alex would have until the time that the sun hit the Bracelet on the morning of the seventh day to reach the pyramid in Ahm Shere, or the Bracelet would suck the life from him. Alex tried to act defiant once more by remarking that his father would defeat Imhotep, stating it in the earthy phrase "kick your arse", but Imhotep did not believe that it would happen as he knelt towards Alex and removed his mask, which showed his rotting face, stating his disbelief.
