Instead of having to manually build component models and footprints, Altium includes the IPC Compliant Footprint Wizard to easily make footprints for your PCB part library. Dimensions from component datasheets may be input into the wizard. The wizard uses IPC standards for PCB footprints to add IPC tolerances, silk screen, and landing patterns to the component model. Should the need arise to deviate from the standard, the wizard allows customization of tolerances and other dimensions. Once the PCB footprint and courtyard is specified, the wizard automatically builds the 3D and STEP models for collaboration across ECAD and MCAD.

PCB library models for each part are built from component vendor datasheets. Dimensions are carefully used to build the circuit board component library models for placement during circuit board layout. Additionally, IPC standards build footprints to enable successful soldering for each conductive lead from the component to the board. Finally, the IPC standard specifies a courtyard that encompasses the entire part and footprint to give printed circuit board layout software enough dedicated room for successful assembly.
The Desktop Edition is free to try - just download and install it. Saving of results is disabled in the trial version, but there is full preview capability. When you buy a license you get a product key that you can use to activate the software and enable saving of the results.
Once issued, copy your product key (select it and press Ctrl-C), then start Vector Magic Desktop Edition. The activation wizard will pop up, auto-detecting the product key on the clipboard. Type in the remaining registration information and click activate. A few moments later your software will be activated for unlimited use.
If your MacBook charger is not working, there could be a number of reasons, not all of which mean the charger is broken. For example, if your Mac is not holding its charge for as long as it could, that could be a software issue. Follow the steps above to identify the likely cause of the problem and then the instructions to fix it and you should be back up, and running soon with a fully charged battery.
I had purchased one of the early versions of the CNC-3020 quite cheaply. The machine had no end stops, hosted an old parallel port based interface and had most of the PCB functionality such as auto spindle control unpopulated. We wrote an article awhile back where [whitequark] successfully modified his machine to upgrade the hardware. I too did the necessary modifications, which were simply attaching 3 end stops to the CNC and soldering in an otherwise unpopulated connector for the surface probe. Many of the newer machines sensibly come with these pre-installed now.
As an example, lets talk about some things I ensured when designing the following PCB that I have milled successfully quite a few times now. For anyone curious this is the Phase Lock Loop section for a DIY Spectrum Analyser based around the Analog Devices ADF4008 IC.
We begin by homing all 3 Axes, positioning the spindle roughly a few millimetres above a corner of the PCB and zeroing all 3 axes. It is important not to lose track of the X-Y zero position between the different jobs. Each new job will need a re-zeroing in the Z axis but the X and Y zero positions will be unchanged. Make sure the probing circuit is correctly set up, otherwise the mill will crash into the PCB! Once we engage the job the Mill should start the probing routine. Once complete, the milling routine will begin, depending on your feedrate and number of passes, this usually takes a while. Once this is complete our board should hopefully resemble our design albeit cluttered in fibreglass dust.
In my case that would be a garage full of boxes of through-hole components and local hardware stores that carry just about every fastener, cutting and measuring tool I could ask for in Imperial but only a tiny selection of over-priced metric items if they have any at all.
NOTE : Present Position(132) represents 4 byte continuous range from -2,147,483,648 to 2,147,483,647 when Torque is turned off regardless of Operating Mode(11).However, Present Position(132) will be reset to an absolute position value within one full rotation in following cases. Note that Present Position(132) value that is reset to an absolute value can differ by the set Homing Offset(20) value.:
My upper playfield (prem/LE) started acting up today - Encounters light is lit - but the upper playfield does not engage (diverter does not activate) and ball goes through the whole way to the down ramp.. I tried playing a few full games.. and Encounters do not happen... any ideas? 2ff7e9595c
